A NEW VOCAL ENSEMBLE GROUP IN OCEANSIDE.
* Sitka Singers is now full, but if you are interested in being put on our waiting list, please sign up through the contact form below.
This small group vocal ensemble is designed for singers who are looking for a little spice in their musical life.
Sitka Singers will combine funky contemporary music, vocal instruction, and a lot of fun.
That's not to say the music will be difficult. We want to enjoy singing it right - and we can't do that if our brains are hurting. BUT, it will be dynamic enough to give us a really cool sound once it's all put together.
You will have access to everything you need to support your learning: Lyrics, notated music score, piano audio tracks of all the parts to listen and learn from, and some bonus information with singing tips and techniques to help you along the way.

This is not an auditioned group, but it will be most enjoyable if you have a comfortable knowledge of how your voice works, and are willing to put time aside between sessions to practice your parts. You do not need to know how to read music, but it will be helpful if you have a basic understanding of how to follow a musical score.
Curious about the repertoire?
I'm working on arrangements of songs by Stevie Wonder, U2, Harry Belafonte ... and more! (I can't give it all away)

Why Sitka?? The Sitka Spruce grows tall and strong. Among northern indigenous tribes, spruce trees are associated with peace and protection. ( In some areas it is known as the Mother tree.)
Spruce is a particular symbol of good luck to the Salish tribes.
It is also a popular tone wood, and is often used to build guitars.
